Ladies 3 iron
Maker:
Robert Forgan and Son
, St Andrews Date: 1928
From one of Forgan's earliest matched sets (before the company had thought of giving a name to the set), a lady's 3 iron. The face has enclosed closely separated lines. The reverse has the flagstick cleekmark Forgan took over from Spence, "Forgan St Andrews Hand Forged Matched Set", "Made in Scotland", "Rustless" and " L" for Ladies.
The original shaft is good quality hickory and has a patent grip (the name missing from the white area visible in the photograph) with bumps all the way down, supposedly to aid grip.
