Antique Golf Clubs from Scotland
Catalogue
Ladies' Star Maxwell
Maker: William Gibson , Kinghorn
Date: 1928

A really eye-catching club in near mint condition. The condition is as a result of a light refurbishment (the club is stamped "Rustless" but wasn't). The club face has an enclosed dot face and the head has a very modern looking flanged sole stamped "4 iron". The flange creates a two-tiered back. It is stamped (almost perfectly) with the Gibson star cleekmark, an "L" denoting a ladies' club, "Star Maxwell", "Made in Scotland", "Hand Forged", "Rustless" and "Wm Gibson & Co Ltd Kinghorn Scotland" in an oval. The hosel has the traditional ten holes of the Maxwell design (supposedly to reduce resistance on the backswing).

A good straight hickory shaft is stamped "Gibson's Star A", a quality grading within the firm and bears the original black leather grip also in immaculate condition.

Price $170.00
