Open Championship 1867: Prestwick
This was Old Tom's fourth and last victory. His son was five strokes behind him in 4th, a huge improvement on the 18 stroke deficit the previous year. Surely no one would have predicted that, by the next championship, Young Tom would begin his domination of the tournament. Of course, Tom died tragically young. Andrew Strath, in third place, the 1865 winner, did also: he was dead before the next championship. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
