Brother of George Lowe and Willie Lowe, three brothers who all followed a professional golfing career in England despite the fact their father did not play a round of Carnoustie links until he was 73 years old. David was professional at Blundellsands for forty years until his death in 1920.

A fourth brother, James, remained in Scotland and kept the original “Low” spelling of his surname. James’s son, another David, founded the David Low sports business in Dundee.
