George Cumming
Dumfries/Toronto
George Cumming Born in Bridge of Weir in 1879, he began caddying at the local Ranfurly Castle club at the age of 10, often carrying for Willie Campbell. In 1894 Campbell emigrated to Boston and George Cumming began a clubmaking apprenticeship with Andrew Forgan in Glasgow.

He accepted the position of professional at the Dumfries and Galloway club in 1896 before moving to Toronto in 1900. He served here as professional for 50 years until his death in March 1950.

He won the Canadian Open in 1905 and was runner-up four times.
