Peter McEwan Jnr
Preston/Kilmarnock/Nairn
Peter McEwan Jnr A grandson of Peter McEwan (number 2) he, with his cousin Douglas, represents the sixth and last generation of McEwan's making clubs, a dynasty which began around 1770. He was born in Musselburgh on 14 October 1895 and grew up largely in England where his father, Douglas was professional at Ilkley, Worthing and Leascowe. It is at this last course he is listed as an assistant to his father on the 1911 census.

After five years in the Cheshire Regiment at Gallipoli, Palestine and France in the First Workd War he continued his golfing career south of the border, first as professional at Preston, 1919-23 , and then at Bolton, 1923-25 . He returned to Scotland to be professional and clubmaker at Kilmarnock's Brassie course, 1925-26 and later, a popular and loyal (turning down a lucrative offer from Cruden Bay) professional in the north east at Nairn, 1926-49. He also served as Captain of the Scottish PGA 1946-7.

After resigning his post at Nairn he managed the PGA cooperative in Glasgow. He signed a contract to be the sole Scottish rep for Silver King golf balls but retired to St Andrews in 1960 and died there in 1971.

The year before he died he made a hickory-shafted driver to complete the 200 year history of the McEwen family 1770-1970. It went into Laurie Auchterlonie's museum with clubs from the previous five generations of the family.
