Tom R Fernie
Turnberry
Tom R Fernie Another of the famous Fernie family. Son of Willie, the 1883 Open Champion, he was born in Troon when his father was professional there. His first attachment was to Turnberry (although he had won the Scottish Professional Championship in both the two previous years), serving there from 1911 to 1926. He won the Scottish Professional Championship again in 1919 and 1920. He then moved south to Lytham St Annes.

Wounded in action in the arm when a corporal with the Glasgow Highlanders in France in WWI in 1915
